Description

A collection comprising two Royal Bank of Scotland one-pound sterling banknotes and approximately 90-100 United Kingdom one-pound and two-pound coins. The paper banknotes, dated June 27, 2000 (serial C/86 884146) and October 27, 2001 (serial C/92 120997), feature the portrait of Lord Ilay (Archibald Campbell, 3rd Duke of Argyll). The metal coins are predominantly brass-toned, with some bi-metallic examples identifying as two-pound denominations. Visible designs include various British heraldic, floral (thistle, rose, shamrock), architectural, and commemorative motifs (e.g., Shakespeare, Rugby World Cup), often displaying the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, with dates ranging from the late 20th to early 21st century. Many of the coins are individually housed in clear plastic capsules. Visible English text includes “The Royal Bank of Scotland plc, ” “ONE POUND STERLING, ” “PROMISE TO PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND, ” “ELIZABETH II, ” “ONE POUND, ” and “TWO POUNDS.”

Condition report:

The banknotes display moderate circulation wear including creases and folds. The coins appear in good to very good condition, with those encapsulated exhibiting minimal wear and others showing light circulation and natural patination.
