Lot 98:
Description
A 19th Century Cylinder Music Box with Bells.Playing up to 8 lyres ( seen working) This vintage wooden cylinder music box features a hinged lid adorned with classical-style marquetry inlay. The inlay depicts a central vignette of musical instruments, including a horn and a scroll, intertwined with floral and foliate motifs, all framed by linear banding on a rich, warm-toned wood surface, likely walnut or mahogany. The rectangular body of the box also appears to be made from a similar wood, with a keyhole visible on the front. The interior reveals a mechanical music box mechanism visible under a glass panel, comprising a large pinned metal cylinder, a comb of numerous tuned teeth, and three prominent brass-finished bells, with a winding handle present on the left side.
Condition report:
Good overall condition. Minor surface wear consistent with age. Internal mechanism shows signs of use and some tarnish.
