Description
Border Fine Arts Bought At Market Limited Edition Figurine by Ray Ayres
A large hand-painted cold-cast resin figurine titled Bought At Market, designed by Ray Ayres for Border Fine Arts. The detailed rural scene depicts a man in a flat cap and brown jacket driving a two-wheeled wooden cart, accompanied by a young boy and a border collie. The cart is drawn by a dappled grey horse in full harness, while a small Jack Russell terrier runs alongside the front wheel. An Ayrshire cow is tethered to the rear of the cart by a lead rope. The figures are set upon a naturalistic textured base representing a country track with grass verges, all mounted on a polished dark wood plinth. The base of the resin sculpture features a printed mark reading © 2008 EN Ltd BFA Scotland and is incised with the signature AYRES MD. It is hand-numbered 83/600 in black ink.
Condition report:
The figurine appears to be in excellent original condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. The delicate cart wheel spokes and the ears and tails of the animals are all intact (photo 1). The cord reins and lead rope are present and correctly positioned (photo 1). The wooden base shows no significant scuffs or marks.
